The address verification api is used to verify addresses and check for typos in the information entered by customers at account sign-up or checkout. It improves user experiences, reduces bad address data and associated costs, and increases delivery predictability. It is recommended for financial services companies authenticating new accounts, and transportation companies assessing package deliverability.

The service identifies and validates the individual address components in an input address, standardizes them for mailing and finds latitude/longitude coordinates for the location. It also includes the full carrier route for mailing and a variety of other useful informational notes about the location. It is designed to work with a wide range of country specific abbreviations including state/province, street suffix and apartment/unit designations.

Global Address Complete also returns valuable metadata about the processed address, such as the accuracy confirmation level for each individual component (Unknown, Unconfirmed, Preferred, and Plausible). It provides a list of all possible components that may be included in the verified address and their related codes. It also identifies whether the address is business, residential or mixed and displays the associated classification code.

Other key features include a granularity value that indicates how much of the address was validated, and validation signals (see below). The service can translate between different scripts such as Latin to Cyrillic for addresses in Russia, and Hani to Latin for addresses in Japan. It can also transform the input to uppercase or lowercase letters and return them in either format.
